Heavy metal ‘American Idol’ parking lot: For those about to rock, Season 24 salutes you
I believe I speak for many viewers, or certainly for Carrie Underwood, when I say: More Motörhead covers, please!

On Monday, during American Idol Season 24’s third night of auditions, not-so-secret metalhead Carrie Underwood stated she that this year, she hopes to find a “more spicy” contestant that represents the rock world. (I recall how bummed she was when she attended last season’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-theme night in full Axl Rose cosplay, only to have almost no contestants sing any rock at all). So, she was understandably stoked when a double-demin’d dude named Noah Orion cruised up atop his “wall of sound” (i.e., a DIY-deconstructed yellow school stacked with cranked-to-11 amps), accompanied by a flying-V-brandishing band hammering out Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades,” promising to deliver the “greatest rock ‘n’ roll audition in American Idol history!”
